WYgroup, through its companies Bliss Applications, WYcreative, and WYperformance,
has combined all its knowledge and talent to develop the new Social Security portal.
Considered one of the biggest technological challenges in the Portuguese Public Administration,
this project brings public services closer to the people by providing a simpler, more intuitive, and more useful digital presence.
André Gil, CEO of WYgroup, states that,
“This project was an exercise in co-creation and great responsibility. We knew that we were not just working for a client, but for all the citizens and businesses of the country. Our focus was to design real solutions for real needs, with human and social impact.”
The project began with an audit of the existing platforms to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
The thorough information gathering also included UX/UI and SEO audits, strategic analysis, social media interactions, surveys, and interviews conducted across the country, engaging different user profiles.
Within this scope, a complete redesign of the portal’s information architecture and navigation was carried out, from a user-centered perspective and supported by behavioral analytics.
At the same time, a new Design System was built for both web and mobile, to be used across Social Security, following best practices in usability, content, and accessibility.
The information gathered served as the foundation for developing the new visual and navigation concept, as well as for creating moodboards, user journeys, and collaborative workshops with the relevant Social Security stakeholders.
To ensure the best possible experience, a prototype was designed and validated through usability and neuromarketing tests with real users.
The result of all the work developed together with Bliss Applications, WYcreative, and WYperformance is a completely renewed portal that integrates, for the first time, institutional information and Social Security Direct.
Additionally, it organizes content in a clearer and more inclusive way, allows navigation by life events, and enables the simulation of benefits and subsidies—all through a modern, lightweight, and user-centered design.
The technical implementation was carried out by the Institute of Informatics, ensuring the portal’s robustness and security, which is now accessible at www.seg-social.pt.
